AMSOIL formulating synthetic oil

Switching from Conventional to Synthetic Oil, Bascially just do it.

Confusion still exists about changing to a different type of oil in vehicles, particularly older models that have accumulated many miles. A small group of individuals in garages and on blogs lacking adequate information still hold tightly to old beliefs that synthetic motor oils cause roller followers to “slip or skid,” or a switch to synthetic motor oil causes issues in older engines, specifically oil leaks.

Facts have since replaced these out-of-date ideas about synthetics to be the cause of engine problems.

The use of synthetic lubricants is growing rapidly because properly formulated synthetics offer benefits well beyond what conventional and synthetic-blend products provide. As you know, many new passenger car and light truck vehicles come factory filled with synthetic motor oil – not just high-performance sports cars.

Methods for switching your car or truck to synthetic motor oil for the first time.

You have a brand new vehicle that is factory filled with petroleum oil, then it is recommended that you run on petroleum oil for 800-1000 km for a gasoline engine car or light truck and approximately 5000 km on a diesel engine before installing synthetic motor oil.

Simply change the oil. Take your vehicle to a favorite mechanic or the nearest quick lube and ask for synthetic motor oil. Or, if you are inclined, grab that oil drain pan and do it yourself. You don’t have to do anything special to the engine, and the synthetic oil isn’t going to create problems in your vehicle that weren’t already there.

Flush the engine first. Though not required, an engine flush more immediately removes sludge and debris accumulated over time.

The main difference between flushing your engine and a normal oil change to synthetics is the rate at which the built-up debris is removed from older engines. If you change to AMSOIL synthetic motor oil without flushing, for example, the detergents in the motor oil will clean accumulated deposits from the engine over subsequent oil changes. When you use AMSOIL Engine and Transmission Flush, the cleanup is more immediate and helps ensure the engine is clean and free of any accumulated contaminants.

However, we recommend using AMSOIL Engine and Transmission Flush if you want to give your engine a fresh start before switching to synthetic motor oil.

Switching to AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants

If your brand new vehicle is factory filled with synthetic motor oil, technically, you can switch over to AMSOIL lubricants immediately. However, we recommend that the vehicle be driven for about 1000 km (both gas & diesel engines) on the factory filled oil and then drained & replaced with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil.

This will essentially get rid of the wear metals that are introduced into the oil during the initial stages of break in cycle. Following this recommendation, can increase engine life and promote an even component level break-in. Because, 5-15 micron wear causing metal particles cannot be captured by the full flow oil filter. This type of wear causing particles are highest in concentration during the initial stages of break-in process. By flushing out this metal debris, you are essentially giving the engine a good start.

If your brand new vehicle is factory filled with petroleum oil, then it is recommended that you run on petroleum oil for 800-1000 km for a gasoline engine car or light truck and approximately 5000 km on a diesel engine before installing AMSOIL full synthetic motor oil.
